GoalsI am an educator, researcher and sometimes administrator based in southern Oregon. No matter what I'm working on, my favorite part is always organizing information in ways that make it easy for others to understand. My primary goal is to help people educate themselves, so I am interested in contributing my expertise to all kinds of learning materials and writing.

Experience
I have taught courses in German, International Studies, and University Seminar (research and communication skills) at Southern Oregon University and The University of Texas at Austin. As a McNair Scholar myself, I was honored to serve on the program's Advisory Council at SOU. I've also served as Chair of a program, developed new curricula, and contributed content and activities to open educational resources. My research has been peer reviewed and published, and I've presented at international conferences. I'm constantly looking to improve my skillset and have taken numerous professional development courses, the latest of which was ACUE's course in Effective Teaching Practices.
I also interact with the world outside academia, and I've worked average jobs with people who serve the community. My circle includes all kinds of people, many of whom live close to natural world. This grounding is so important in today's technological and globalized world - I'm blessed to know them and benefit greatly from the grounding effect they have on me. My working class background helps me relate to students who sometimes feel like strangers in the academic world, and contributes to my unique perspective and problem-solving approach.
